Even a slight rain delay this morning couldn’t dampen the spirits of our group of NZ graziers visiting from across the ditch! A big thankyou to @outbackaussietours and @zest4travel for coordinating this experience. #stationtours #experiencelongreach #visitoutbackqueensland #travelqueensland #grouptravel #darrriverdowns www.darrriverdowns.com.au

Treats all round this morning… home baking, good company and the country green and dressed to impress with its dinner suit on. We hosted renowned luxury dining and travel journalist Kerry Heaney @eatdrinkandbekerry and partner Kevin for a tour and morning tea - a lovely and very talented duo. Thankyou to @qld_heli again for your wonderful service and making the experience all the more spectacular. #darrriverdowns #stationtours #experiencelongreach #experiencequeensland #travelqueensland #outbackqueenslandtourism www.darrriverdowns.com.au

Putting some final touches on the website and booking platform. All going to plan we should be good to launch next week! The concept of tours was first pitched when Paul and I moved home mid 2023 and took over Darr River Downs from his parents who were keen to retire but still wanted to be involved on the property. I saw huge potential in the existing collection and knew that in the inevitability of more dry times it would be beneficial to diversify. So with some rearranging and curating we now have four dedicated museum areas in the homestead precinct, housed in the original stone buildings. Word started to spread about the project and we have also been very fortunate to have people donate items to enhance the collection. Paul’s father Cam is a charismatic people person with a wealth of knowledge and so when he is not golfing or travelling he is Number 1 Tour guide extraordinaire. We prefer to keep our smoko groups small (under 16 people) so that we can really personalise the tours and fit our guests into the museum buildings comfortably. We also schedule them to weekly on a Thursday (station work permitting). We have also been collaborating to provide exclusive group experiences which can involve bus, plane or helicopter charters and the option of smoko, lunch or sunset tours. So lots in the pipeline and if you’re heading this way, get in touch, book a tour and we look forward to having a cuppa and taking you on an 150 year journey of our rural history. #stationtours #experiencelongreach #outbackqueensland #travelaustralia #darrriverdowns @darrriverdowns

This afternoon we had a lovely visit from renowned Australian journalist Denise Cullen. To Jack’s delight her mode of transport was an R44 and the @qld_heli flight from @mitchellgrassretreat would have been spectacular especially after the recent rain. It was very humbling to host Denise and we hope she enjoyed her experience. #outbackqueensland #experiencelongreach #stationtours #darrriverdowns
